The micro thermostatic jacket is insulated with 40 g m2 of thermal q elite a proprietary insulation from mountain hardwear. Though its 20d nylon face fabric is wind and water resistant enough to be used as an outer layer its streamlined fit makes it a perfect mid layer. However i d attribute it to having better wind resistance than the patigonia jacket. It s the lightest of the jackets we tested packing down to the size of a one liter water bottle.
